Calibration

Capsaicin purchased from Merck ( Capsaicin ) was diluted with SFC-MS grade methanol to give 0.16 ppm, 0.31 ppm, 0.63 ppm, 1.25 ppm, 2.5 ppm and 5.0 ppm solutions. These were run, twice each, and the peak areas tabulated. After each run a methanol blank was run to establish carry-over (negligible). Below the 2.5 ppm solution has a peak height 1.18e7 whereas the following black has 6.63e3. Data below 1e4 is discounted.

Normally a series of repeat samples would be made and more repeat injections would be run however this is 'just for fun'...

Good linearity of signal up to 1.25ppm so we will aim to dilute to give a concentration within this range.
